Willowlake Vineyard is a beautiful cool site in the upper Yarra Valley. I’ve been taking fruit from this vineyard for many years, most of which goes into the Rob Hall Pinot. I’ve kept my favourite couple of barrels aside for this bottling.

In the winery a variety of fermentation techniques are used, to create options for this blend. A batch that underwent extended maceration under ended up being the predominant component in the blend, giving a savoury and structured backbone to the wine. A batch of 100% whole bunch ferment adds complexity to the aroma and chalky tannins to the finish.

The nose has quite complex aromas, bright red fruit and cherry, with some underlying rhubarb and spice from the whole-bunch batch. The palate is savoury, complex with a clean elegant finish.
