A blend of two vineyards. Full Moon Vineyard (cooler southern end of the valley), and my folks vineyard (south of Healesville).

The majority of the fruit is wholebunch pressed, some had 24hr skin contact, which adds a nice bit of structure and complexity. The idea is to create the texture and phenolics in the wine from skin tannin and solids rather than oak. The aroma has toasty lees character, yellow nectarine, cream and some floral notes. The flavours follow on the palate which is textural and long with refreshing acidity and a saline pithy finish.

2025 Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir from five vineyards went into this wine in 2025, Harriet’s Vineyard, Full Moon, Boat O’Craigo, Nenagh Park and Yarrawalla. 2024 was a low cropping vintage in the Yarra. After a wet spring, summer came good with good slow ripening days, resulting in lovely aromatics and intensity. Extended time on skins has built some lovely texture.

The resulting wine has aromas of sour cherry, rhubarb and floral notes, with hints of herb and spice from the wholebunch batches. The palate is well balanced, with moreish acidity, a dry and savoury finish, with some well matured tannin from the extended maceration.

Way back in 1996 we planted a small vineyard at my folks place, 4 acres each of Pinot and Chardonnay. Until recently the fruit had been sold to larger wineries. In recent years the vines have been reaching a more mature balance, their youthful vigour has tamed and they're starting to produce more concentrated wines. With increased attention to detail in the vineyard this will only improve.
The vineyard has never had a name as such, it has been referred to as Hall Vineyard or Pine Ave Vineyard. From the start mum took on the bulk of the hands on work, so when I needed to name the vineyard for my single vineyard wines Harriet's Vineyard seemed appropriate.

The vineyard is managed in sections, some areas being quite vigorous, while others less so. These areas are picked separately to create different batches in the winery. In the winery a variety of fermentation techniques are used, to create options for this blend. A batch that underwent extended maceration under ended up being the predominant component in the blend, giving a savoury and structured backbone to the wine. A small batch of 100% whole bunch ferment adds complexity to the aroma and chalky tannins to the finish.

The nose has quite complex aromas, dark fruits, fig, red apple, some cola spice. The palate is savoury, complex and structured; it will cellar very well.

Gamay 2025

My first release of Gamay! The fruit is sourced from Kangaroo Ground, the winemaking is kept fairly simple. Mostly de-stemmed fruit, made the way we make Pinot Noir. Matured in older 500L barrels.

From the Halliday Wine Companion: ‘A very bright bouquet of red cherry, raspberry, rose and aromatic spices. Medium bodied, this fills out nicely on the mid-palate. I like the al dente tannins giving the wine structure and focus. An utterly delicious wine to drink now and over the next two to three years.’
